Powhatan County is a county located in the U.S. state officially, "Commonwealth" of Virginia. As of the 2000 census, the population was 22,377. Its county seat is Powhatan6. The county is named for the Indian Chief Powhatan, father of Pocahontas.
It is located in the Richmond-Petersburg region and is a portion of the Richmond Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA).
